Since 1937 the Oregon Commission for the Blind (OCB) has been an important resource for Oregonians experiencing vision loss, as well as their families, friends, and employers. The Oregon Commission for the Blind is the State agency which provides rehabilitation training and counseling to Oregonian adults who are Blind and Visually Impaired. The Commission currently has 63 employees and serves all of Oregon from five offices. The agency's mission is to "Empower Oregonians who are Blind to fully engage in life."

What you will do!

You will provide internal and external customers with scheduling, in-take, and filing assistance along with answering questions, greeting customers, and assisting with selling and monitoring products for the OCB retail store.

Working Conditions

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

To be considered for this position you must meet the following minimum qualifications (required skills):

  • Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents. OR

  • An Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology. OR

  • Graduated from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Requested Skills

While these skills are not required, candidates who are the most competitive will have the following:

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Experience assisting customers via telephone.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience working in a team environment, including the willingness to collaborate, share information, and contribute to the team's success.

  • Ability to learn new things quickly.
