The PTSD Clinical Team (PCT) Psychologist will treat Veterans admitted to PCT for treatment of PTSD, and/or those Veterans with comorbid PTSD and SUD.

The incumbent will be able to diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological screenings and/or assessments, and to provide psychotherapy, specifically pertaining to the diagnoses of PTSD. The incumbent should be able to determine which psychotherapy modalities and techniques are appropriate, and to provide various types of psychotherapies, with a particular emphasis on Evidence Based Practices (EBPs) for PTSD, to include CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and PE (Prolonged Exposure). Additional treatment modalities pertaining to Veterans with PTSD, and to their families, may be utilized. Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.
The psychologist functions in accordance with the policies, principals, professional ethics and techniques of accepted Psychology practice to include the American Psychological Association, professional licensing code, and State laws. Additional guides are available in the form of Veterans Administration directives; program guides, bulletins and circulars; Center Memoranda; Medical Staff By-Laws; applicable Labor-Management Bargaining Agreements; and external accreditation agencies utilized by the VA Medical Center (TJC, CARF, etc.). Incumbent is expected to practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist and work as part of a multidisciplinary team model.

Basic Requirements: * United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. * Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA). * Successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed. * Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Preferred Experience: The psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing the full scope of psychological care to Veterans, including the following: * Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services including assessment and uses the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care. * Performs evaluations for wide array of patients representing diverse diagnostic entities. * Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions. * Participates as an active treatment team member. * Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. * Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. * Provides Tele-mental health services. * Travels to coastal clinics (up to 50% of the time) to provide clinical services in person. Grade Determinations: GS-13 Level: at least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 grade level., as a professional psychologist that was obtained through employment as a psychologist or through participating in a supervised post-doctoral psychology training program that demonstrates 1) active professional practice that was paid/non-paid employment and/or 2) a full, current and unrestricted license. To be creditable, the experience must have required the use of knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics associated with current psychology practice.
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, professional psychological treatments to the full range of patient populations.
- Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health.
- Knowledge of clinical research literature.*Experience is only creditable if it is post-doctoral degree experience as a professional psychologist directly related to the duties performed.
