Your Role With Us:

In the role of Nutrition Services Lead with Salem Health, you will assist the supervisor by managing the daily operations of the nutrition services team. In support of the organization’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the people and community we serve a key part of your role is ensuring trays are delivered in a timely fashion, standards are adhered to, and customers/patients and staff needs are met.

Core Functions:

  • Oversee department processes such as menu selection, ordering, ticket generation, production/delivery times, quality of food produced, extraordinary customer service, cleaning duties and floor stock management.

  • Review daily staff scheduling to ensure adequate staffing to maintain productivity

  • Assign work to nutrition services personnel and reassign staff members as necessary

  • Assist with the performance reviews to ensure employees adhere to organization policies and procedures

  • Understand food and patient safety regulatory and compliance requirements. Maintains a safe work environment.

  • Adhere to safety practices; ensures equipment is safe, clean and in good working condition.

Background/Expertise:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent), required.

  • Associates degree in food service, hospitality, business administration or equivalent experience required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hospital food service or hospitality services

  • Current Food Handlers Card or ServSafe Certificate required within 30 days of hire.

  • Must consistently provide strong, stable leadership in the absence of a supervisor.

  • Excellent face-to-face customer communication skills.
