Applied Materials Payroll Processing Analyst - (B3) in Salem, Oregon
Job Summary:
The Payroll Processing Analyst reports to the Payroll Processing Manager. He/she is the SME for day-to-day payroll operations and the main point of contact for Payroll processing for the Payroll outsourced service provider. He/she will work directly with the other payroll staff and other functional analysts as needed to support the department.
Major Responsibilities:
Act as liaison between the Applied and ADP payroll teams with regards to day-to-day processing operations to include production of on and off-cycle payrolls
Workday to ADP interface SME - work closely with HR staff to assure complete coordination of efforts and procedures with pay, deduction, and benefits information used for payroll production, tracking and reporting
Develop policies and procedures to ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and federal and state regulations
Support SOX controls
Identify areas of improvement and provide requirements/solutions related to payroll as well as the payroll processing procedures for continuous improvement of the Payroll department’s efficiency and effectiveness
Effectively and proactively educate staff, business partners and employees on payroll related policies and procedures
Query/report development
Key Competencies:
Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax and payroll regulations in a multi-state organization and Federal and State wage and hour laws (FLSA)
Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll processes and service delivery model
Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to identify and communicate trends
Proven ability to build/maintain effective professional relationships and partnerships with all levels of the Company and third-party service providers
Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and pressure situations and meet defined timelines
Proven competencies, particularly in the area of communications, presentations, multi-jurisdictional payroll, analysis and related decision-making, problem solving
Excellent communication skills, time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
Communication skills including ability to communicate with remote work force across the US
Strong work ethic focused on producing results and adding value to the team and company
Ability to work in a team environment and establishes strong working relationship with peers
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of experience in payroll function in a complex, multi-state organization to include processing, payroll tax, timekeeping, system implementation, reporting, and general ledger
Project management experience preferred
Proficient skills with Microsoft Office applications
CPP or CPA preferred
Payroll system implementation experience preferred
Experience with comprehensive outsourced payroll model preferred
