Applied Materials Center of Excellence Lead - (M6) in Springfield, Oregon

As the Director for Center of Excellence at Applied Materials, you will drive the continuous improvement of the Global General Procurement (G2P) organization. This role will be critical in leading the delivery of global enterprise impacting projects and programs that support Indirect Procurement’s multi-year transformation journey. Our transformation journey will include empowering process transformation through technology, expanding and enhancing Procurement support services portfolio, and elevating and standardizing Procurement services through best practices, training and templates. You will lead activities such as improving policies and processes, user experience and technology that enables Procurement to delivery significant bottom line value while driving global compliance, controlled spending and risk mitigation. This role will partner closely with cross functional teams such as Finance, Legal, IT and with global G2P team members. Projects and areas of oversight will include management and execution of strategic sourcing and category management methodology, supplier relationship management (SRM), supplier related corporate social responsibility programs, organizational KPIs and ROI, training, change management, communication, business process architecture and related systems. This position will report to the head of Indirect Procurement.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, hire and develop a team responsible to execute aspects of organizational functional transformational, governance and enablement priorities.

  • Build strong relationships with and act as a strategic partner for internal and cross functional leadership and operational teams in a matrixed organization to manage overall execution of multiple programs and projects to meet goals and targeted results, leading and influencing change management practices.

  • Deliver project and program management and change leadership including activity timelines, resource management, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Drive resolution to systemic process, technology and program gaps.

  • Responsible for guiding stakeholder mapping, change readiness and impact assessment, in coordination with key cross functional leaders and Procurement Leadership Team.

  • Responsible for continuous improvements to performance metrics, programs/processes, systemsand innovations to achieve higher levels of business impact.

  • Drive enablement of successful functionalpartnership with the business, key stakeholders, budget owners through development and enhancement of Global Procurement best practices, processes, systems and standardization.

  • Enable best in class spend analytics, market intelligence and industry research processes and tools for G2P members to identify and solve high value problems and support innovation for their categories.

  • Support the business and G2P in spend management projects that accomplish key objectives like savings, process effectiveness, supplier consolidation & management, risk reduction & management, improved visibility and control of expenditures.

  • Collaborate with G2P team, Suppliers, Budget owners, FP&A, Accounting, Legal, InfoSec,on continuous improvement of processes that ensure appropriate review, approvals, transactions and according documentation is in order to support compliance and due diligence while developing and standardizing business processes to improve scalability and sustainability

Experience & Skills:

  • 10+ years relevant experience, 3+ years in a program or change management role and 7+ years source-to-pay experience preferred, experience in consulting is a plus

  • Exceptional track record of applying procurement principles, concepts, best practices, and standards along with an in-depth knowledge of industry practices required.

  • A track record of success leading and participating in cross functional re-engineering or process improvement efforts; including experience creating process diagrams, analyzing workflows, developing standard operating procedures, and reengineering business processes.

  • Superior communication, presentation and change leadership & management skills required.

  • Experience managing people within a remote working environment and demonstrated ability to leverage technology and influence appropriately in a remote or globalized working environment.

  • Experience working on a global scale with a variety of cultures as well as coordination with global tax entities, regional financial controls and government regulations.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles preferred.

  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Passion and prior experience implementing/enhancingprocurement software solutions (including systems like SAP SRM, Ariba, SAP Fieldglass, Oracle, ServiceNow), approval workflows, purchasing policy development and contracts.

  • Excellent Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills. Tableau skills highly preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; MBA preferred.
