Timber Products Company Sales Company Financial Analyst/Controller in Springfield, Oregon


Timber Products Company is looking for a strong finance/accounting analyst to fill the position of Sales Company Financial Analyst/Controller. This role is the primary financial and analytical support for the Sales and Marketing teams. The incumbent manages the financial reporting and accounting systems while complying with Company accounting policies and procedures. Provides basis and information for effective decision-making, optimization of Company assets, and achievement of Company financial goals. Performs other reporting, budgeting and financial analysis as assigned.


  • Works with Sales team to review customer metrics, including profitability, margin targets, etc., utilizing analytics tools, including BI tools.

  • Completes quarterly review of all significant customer contracts (Profitability and Compliance with contract).

  • Works with Sales and Marketing team to develop annual budget.

  • Works with Sales and Marketing to review monthly budget to actual results and prepare forecast for upcoming quarters.

  • Financial support for the approval of sales contracts, rebate programs, VMI locations, etc.

  • Establish and monitor inventory turn goals for VMI locations.

  • Monitor aged inventory and work with Sales and Operations to develop plans to liquidate aged inventory.

  • Manages physical inspection of inventory located at VMI. Reload locations and all other third party facilities.

  • Reviews significant monthly reconciliations prepared by Sales Company accounting team.

  • Works with Company Controller to develop and review significant accounting estimates, including, inventory reserves, claims reserves, and bad debt reserves.

  • Assists with the design of accounting computer systems and continuous improvement of the systems.

  • Assists with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Accounting with a minimum of 2 years supervisory/management experience in similar accounting or related field; preferably in a sales and/or manufacturing environment.

  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.

  • Must have outstanding computer skills including a strong background in spreadsheet and BI tools.

  • Must have demonstrated experience for continuous improvement, including leveraging systems and implementing technology.

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills. Requires the ability to work independently with limited supervision, but also work in a team environment and produce results in conjunction with fellow team members.
