Shields Manufacturing Laser Optics Assembler I/II in Tualatin, Oregon
Shields Manufacturing is experiencing exciting growth and has an immediate need for an experienced Laser Optics Assembler I/II. Under general supervision, this person assists with optical assembly, gluing optics to housing, lens cleaning, alignment, centering, testing, measuring, soldering, optical inspection, optical handling, and complex mechanical, electro-mechanical and plastic assemblies using advanced production techniques.
Using a variety of tools, assemble parts and sub-assemblies according to required specification.
Interpret and plan work orders, assembly instructions, mechanical drawings, and parts lists; gathering parts, sub-assemblies, tools, and materials.
Review and understand single and multi-level bill of materials.
Inspect incoming manufactured parts for quality and conformance to specifications.
Provide input to refine assembly techniques to improve quality and manufacturing repeatability.
Evaluate and verify that work complies with specifications using a variety of test methods equipment.
Follow established priorities to deliver on time.
Prepare and package units for shipment.
Maintains safe and clean working environment.
Documents actions by completing production and quality records.
Perform quality inspections.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in mechanical assembly in a high-tech production environment.
Familiarity with clean room protocol
Lens cleaning, Alignment, Centering, Optical Inspection, and Optical Handling experience
Optical assembly experience (gluing optics to housing for example)
Familiarity with test equipment- multimeter, oscilloscope, Interferometer, microscope
Familiarity with measuring equipment- calipers, micrometer, test indicator, dial indicator
Familiarity with lasers
Familiarity with terms used in optics
Thorough understanding of technical drawings and geometric tolerances.
Trained in all aspects of gowning and clean room experience preferred.
Strong communication skills ? both verbal and written.
Computer skills and knowledge of Material Resource Planning.
Must be a self-starter & self-motivated.
Must be able to multi-task and work well in a team environment.
Strong problem-solving skills.
A temperature-controlled production environment requiring sitting/standing for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear protection) may be required. May operate moving equipment (forklift) as required to perform essential job functions.
