The Global Trade Compliance (GTC) Export Compliance Engineer is responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining FLIR’s GTC Jurisdiction & Classification (JC) program for export purposes. As a member of the GTC Export Compliance Team, the Export Compliance Engineer will work with engineering teams to understand and classify the products (hardware, software and technology) that FLIR exports -- and will serve as one of the primary GTC points of contact for JC determinations, training, and support worldwide.
The Export Compliance Engineer will be responsible for performing JC determinations and supporting the development of processes for:
making JC determinations
storing all determinations and related records
providing access to JC determinations to company employees and partners
ensuring JC determinations are migrated into SAP and other ERP systems as needed
The Export Compliance Engineer also will provide support for SAP GTS export controls as well as other projects for the GTC team. In addition, the Export Compliance Engineer will prepare, submit, and support JC-related government filings, including encryption reports, CCATS, and requests.Qualifications
Background in engineering or related field
Proficient in performing JC determinations for US, Canada and EU jurisdictions
Experience with SAP and GTS
Thorough understanding of military and dual use US and EU export regulations, particularly export classifications
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Proven attention to detail, analytical and organizational ability
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in Global Trade Compliance, Engineering, or related experience
Preferred experience in high-tech or thermal Industry
Preferred experience working with U.S. government agency on export-related matters (e.g., Department of Commerce and/or Department of State)
