The Video/Digital Media Production Specialist reports directly to the Director, Marketing Communications and Creative Production, and works as a collaborative member of the Marketing Communications Creative Services team serving in the combined capacity as cinematographer and post production specialist as well as in occasional producer capacity. This position interacts with in-house and external writer-producers, project managers, motion graphics designers, other video specialists, and with FLIR internal clients to shoot and edit assigned video projects.
Assignments will include, but are not be limited to: promotional videos, user success story videos, executive level special productions, as well as tradeshow loops, unboxing and how-to videos. In other words, a wide mix of video productions ranging from those requiring high production values to simpler setup scenarios, all with an emphasis on quality.
Internal clientele shall consist of, but is not limited to, such product segments as: security, instruments (fire, test & measurement, thermography cameras for automation, industrial, research, fire, etc.), OEM, surveillance, detection, outdoor and tactical systems, and marine. In addition, special projects for the executive leadership, HR, and other internal customers will also be periodically required.
Serves as videographer on assigned productions, responsible for developing creative approaches to lighting, composition, and camera movement that results in visually interesting and meaningful storytelling imagery. May also serve as director on the shoot in collaboration with writer and/or producer.
Edits assigned videos and coordinates/collaborates with motion graphics artists involved in the assignments (post-production). Creates simple motion graphics treatments as needed. Ingests footage, stills and culls select takes in preparation for post-production.
Uploads work-in-progress and final renders to digital asset management systems and notifies stakeholders for review and approval. Keeps the director of creative production, the VP of creative services, and assigned project managers apprised of progress.
Often participates in various phases of video production process from concept to completion, but with primary emphasis on field videography, photography and on editing/postproduction.
Helps producers and other video team members with production logistics – location scouting, rental equipment procurement, etc.
Keeps internal video production equipment maintained, organized and secured.
Estimates time required to execute assigned projects for budgeting and scheduling purposes.
Archives source materials as well as finished projects.
Inputs hours used to complete projects into scheduling software timesheet on a daily or weekly basis.
Other duties as required. Some travel required.
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts, Visual Communications, Design or related disciplines
Minimum 2+ years of video production and post production experience a must
Experience with contemporary video production cinematography equipment and techniques, creative lighting, and post production tools (Adobe Premier, After Effects, Motion, etc.) required
Strong motion graphics and typography sensibilities a plus
Corporate internal marketing or ad agency experience a plus
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Self-starter with “can-do” attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to handle multiple assignments and work under firm deadlines
Keen attention to detail
Knowledge of electronics industry or imaging technology a plus
